Qantas Award Flights Were Incredible Value in the 1990s
Redeeming Qantas Frequent Flyer points for a Classic Flight Reward might seem like good value in 2021 - and it usually is. But the value of Qantas points in 2021 is nothing compared to the way things were 25 years ago!

Tassie It is
Trip report by henleybeach | It's been a while since my last TR, I think it was 2019 "Stans" holiday so I thought I'd get back on board for our 10 day holiday to Tassie. Six months ago we booked 7 nights Port Douglas and 5 nights Cairns for July 2021, hoping to escape the winter for 2 weeks. We were looking forward to being able to walk around in shorts and t shirt, swim and get the nice queensland glow! However a couple weeks before departure, the SA govt decided to close to whole of Australia except Tasmania. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member fifo from Sydney. fifo joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2012 and has so far made 349 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: It was 2019, and the world was still open. We'd just finished ~3 years of working in Qatar and we took a world trip including 2 months/10 countries in Africa, a little bit of Europe, visiting family and friends in North America, some time in our old home in the Caribbean - Belize - and finished off with some time in the Cook Islands. It took me to a current total of 84 lifetime countries.

Q: Where will you go when the current travel restrictions are lifted?
A: Canada to see my partner's family and Mexico/Belize to go cave diving and exploring!

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Qantas. I'm a few thousand status credits away from LTG [Lifetime Gold], mostly thanks to being FIFO for 5 years - I'm no longer FIFO!!

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: In all interactions with companies, stand your ground, know your legal rights, but be polite. Don't let them tell you they don't owe you a refund if they do!

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: Overview of Best Qantas Status Run Options. For obvious reasons now that I've stopped living overseas and flying for work so much, I want that LTG [Lifetime Gold] and to stop the chase every year!
