Banks Cracking Down on Credit Card Churning
Right now, Australia's banks are offering more credit card sign-up offers - with higher amounts of bonus points available - than ever before. These offers of up to 150,000 bonus frequent flyer points, just for applying for a new credit card, are great for frequent flyer point collectors!

However, banks are also getting smarter about their credit card promotions. In an attempt to crack down on credit card churning, these sign-up offers are also now coming with more strings attached.

Qantas Award Seat Release Time Changes

Ultimate Credit Card Points Transfer Matrix
Credit cards are one of the easiest ways to earn frequent flyer points in Australia. While some credit cards earn Qantas or Velocity points directly, other cards allow you to earn points with the bank's own credit card rewards program. You can then transfer these points onwards to an airline more...

On the Quest to see pingüinos
Trip report by VPS | So a little play on words here but I'm on the Seabourn Quest heading for Antarctica. I had hoped that I could do a live TR but the speed of the Internet (and the cost) on board isn't going to make that possible. I have been writing up my TR each day so when I get home I will be able to write it up reasonably quickly. read more...
Japan 2020 - The Idiot Returns
Trip report by Noel Mugavin | Hark back to February 2019 and I was a bit down about my old boss, and good mate of 17 years, retiring. The adjustment to a new Head of Department, who I must add has been fantastic, was taking it's toll and I needed something to drag me out of my funk. Q: Most recent trip?
A: SIN-PER in Y on Singapore Airlines, at the end of a trip to Asia that included meeting a child we sponsor through Compassion in the Philippines. Such a valuable and eye opening experience.

Q: What's still on your bucket list?
A: Africa. I'd love to experience the culture and see the unique environment.

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: Mrs Excel (wherever possible) - it's awesome experiencing new countries together. I'll also carry a small shoulder pouch with a battery bank and universal cable. I can't stand being stranded!

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Despite our best laid plans travel is messy and things go wrong. But remember that we get to travel. When something goes wrong, responding calmly will almost always get you the best outcome.

Q: Favourite forum on AFF?
A: This gets mentioned a lot, but the Qantas Oneworld Award planning thread. There's so many tips and tricks both for complex, high value itineraries as well as general Qantas award advice.
