Qantas Closes Airport Service Desks
Qantas will close its airport service desks and sales counters, and reduce staffing levels at baggage services desks, resulting in the loss of around 100 jobs. The move will help Qantas to further cut costs, but frequent flyers are concerned this will lead to service reductions and chaos when there are flight disruptions.

Time Stands Still on Norfolk Island.
Trip report by drron | So tomorrow we leave from BNE's International Terminal on our first overseas flight this year - to Norfolk Island. We had our honeymoon there. Was about as far as we could afford in those days. It was then a duty free place and we returned home 70Kg overweight. However as it was our honeymoon we were not charged. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member Coops1 from Tasmania. Coops1 joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2012 and has so far made 375 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: In March we flew Virgin from Hobart to Brisbane on Etihad Guest miles in J... but skipped the separate SQ booking to Singapore/Maldives due to Covid! Still had a great time and found some great waterfalls/parks in northern NSW and SE QLD to visit! We legged it home a week early in mid-March, just as everything started to go pear shaped!

Q: Where will you go when the current travel bans are lifted?
A: I am thinking that NZ and the Pacific Islands will open up well before everywhere else, and it will remain in a local bubble, so SAFE! We spent 2 weeks in the Cook Islands, including a week on Aitutaki back in 2018, which is the "most beautiful lagoon in the world". So I am thinking the same trip again, if the rest of the world isn't invited in as well!

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Singapore Airlines. Great planes, lounges and customer service. Was also a good way of maintaining VA status, as in the past, discounted economy gave full Y points and status credits. I found SQ were always receptive when you asked for the middle seat to be blocked/ghosted, which is helpful when not in J!

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: You can maximise your frequent flyer points across a range of programs and airlines, without complication, or taking too much time. Take opportunities as they arise, and your points balances will grow. There are plenty of threads on AFF to help you out.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: Very hard to nominate one, as there is so much stuff on AFF. I look at some diverse stuff, usually clicking through all the links in AFF emails. But, in reality I spend a lot of time in the Shopping Reward Programs forum, which has given me a lot of insight over the years that I now use to maximise reward points!
