Flowers in Toowoomba
Trip report by Major | Toowoomba is a city located about 90-120 minutes drive West of Brisbane and sits at the top of the Great Dividing Range. Their weather is less humid and usually not as hot as Brisbane. At an altitude of 700m or 2300 ft. they can grow quite a different range of flowers to Brisbane. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member motef, who joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2015 and has so far made 255 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: A white Christmas with the family to Quebec, Washington DC and New York. We flew with JAL from SYD-NRT-JFK and it was great to avoid LAX. There were a few internal flights to YUL, LGA and DCA across Air Canada and American Airlines which were eye-opening as I was amazed at the consistently poor customer service. It was great to experience Christmas overseas which was a first for us. Although we had no snow on Christmas Day in New York, we experienced -26 celsius in Quebec City and even the locals were cold!

Q: Where will you go when the current travel bans are lifted?
A: Our wedding and honeymoon were rescheduled to late 2021 due to COVID-19. So once we can travel again I would love to do our Honeymoon trip which was a Qantas Oneworld Classic Flight Reward in business class to Singapore, Maldives, UK, France, Finland and Lapland.

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Aeropelican (now defunct). As a child, I grew up in the southern suburbs of Newcastle near Belmont Airport which was the home base of Aeropelican. Their main route was to Sydney using Twin Otters. I used to always see them overhead and went often to watch them land and take off as the runway was so close to the road and the lake. I flew on them several times and it's what gave me the bug for flight and travel. I remember once being on a yacht in Lake Macquarie as one came in to land from the west and on its final a yacht with a large mast sailed by the end of the runway. The Twin Otter had to do a last-minute climb up and over the mast and then quickly back down to land. I'm glad I wasn't on board either the plane or the yacht.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Don't be afraid to ask questions. The amount of information can be overwhelming but after a while, it all seems to click into place. Once you get an understanding, don't forget to give back.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: As a Qantas Platinum and heavily involved in the points and miles game it has to be the Qantas Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Planning thread. For me this award is the ultimate goal of my countless hours reading, researching, asking and collecting miles.
