AFF Responds to ACCC Report on Loyalty Schemes
Last week, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) released a draft report on customer loyalty schemes in Australia. The report identified "significant concerns" held by the ACCC surrounding data practices, consumer and competition issues relating to loyalty programs in Australia.

Best Credit Cards for Overseas Travel
The fee-free 28 Degrees Global Platinum Mastercard is one of the best credit cards for overseas travel and online shopping. It's one of a range of Australian credit cards with no international transaction fees - some of which even award frequent flyer points. When travelling overseas or paying in a foreign currency online, it's prudent to use a credit card that charges no international transaction fees. Most Australian credit cards add a 3% international transaction fee - in addition more...
Jetstar Points Planes to Japan a Poor Deal
Qantas Frequent Flyer is expanding its Points Plane concept to Jetstar. Until 17 September 2019, Qantas says you'll be able to book any available seat on Jetstar flights between Australia and Japan, as well as across the Jetstar Japan network, for travel between 12 November and 12 December 2019. If you've been saving up your Qantas points for a trip to Japan, this probably sounds like good news. But don't get too excited just yet... The Qantas Points Plane concept more...

You can now comment on AFF articles

On articles where comments are open, you'll find a comments section at the bottom of the article. A 10 Star Trip Europe and The Maldives...
Trip report by SponsorSFC | I really enjoyed writing and occasionally reviewing my previous report so thought I would start another one as we have a month to go. This trip was planned around 4 key points: Attend the Ashes at Lord's; Making the most of our soon to lapse Hilton Diamond status (thanks Macquarie it was a great 4 years while it lasted); Burn through my last 140k United miles; Collect a few more Michelin Stars while we eat our way around. read more...
Old and New England with Green Gables.
Trip report by drron | Time flies and next Monday we are off on our next trip. We will fly to SYD and stay at Rydges. Then our usual BA 16 to SIN on Tuesday. Wednesday and our first SQ suites on SQ 308 to LHR. 12 days driving around Wales with a visit to Fishguard to salute the memory of the fishwives. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week, we interviewed AFF member bpeteb from Brisbane. bpeteb (formerly known on AFF as bigpetebrown) joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2011 and has so far made 1,295 posts.

Q: Most recent flight?
A: I flew back from Sydney last night on Qantas after a one-night work trip.

Q: Favourite destination?
A: Just one? Antarctica. It was other worldly. I'll add another more realistic destination - Japan. People, history, food, landscape and the train system (of course).

Q: What's one thing you would never travel overseas without?
A: I do my best to leave it somewhere while we're away - passport. And a phone with a great camera and offline maps. Invaluable.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Realise how lucky we all are to be able to fly frequently. A broken in-flight entertainment unit or non-availability of your favourite Chardonnay won't kill you. Oh, and don't make that first stretch to J. You'll never want to go back to Y ;)
[*Editor's note for newbies: J = Business class and Y = Economy class.]

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: All trip reports by JohnM. Oh to be half as adventurous. His current trip with RooFlyer, written by RF, is amazing - The 5 Stans of the Silk Road
