NSW Scraps Quarantine for Vaccinated Australians
New South Wales will reopen its border to vaccinated Australians returning from overseas from 1 November 2021, who will no longer have to quarantine on arrival - neither at a hotel, nor at home.

Fully vaccinated Australians will also be allowed to travel overseas from anywhere in Australia from 1 November, without having to apply for a travel restriction exemption from the Australian government.

Featured AFF Member Trip Report
If That's The Worst Thing that Can Happen.... (very belated trip report)
Trip report by coriander | "Good morning, Dr coriander, how are you today?" the voice on the phone said. "This is Selima from Latitude Financial Services speaking." Why do I suddenly think this phone call is not going to end well? "Are you in Canada at the moment?" Yep, I knew I wouldn't like this question - not good. "Aah, no I'm in Melbourne, but about to head for the airport for my flight to Europe... why do you ask?" read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member Jack_OC from Melbourne. Jack_OC joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2012 and has so far made 1,578 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: Sydney for work, earlier this year. That's the only time I've been on a plane since March 2020. Quite a change from 60+ flights a year for many years before then!

Q: Where will you go when the current travel restrictions are lifted?
A: Europe, to visit family - in fact I have just booked a trip for 2022 in the hope that the restrictions are finally coming to an end. Fingers crossed!

Q: Favourite airline?
A: This is a difficult one, as I've been lucky enough to fly with something like 40 different airlines around the world, experiencing everything from economy on small commuter aircraft to first class on A380s. I think I would have to go for Singapore Airlines, as they are consistently good in every class of service. I think Qantas deserves an honourable mention too. I would never have been in the Qantas fan-boy camp, but it has really grown on me in the past few years. There is nothing like seeing a QF plane at the end of an exhausting business trip to make you feel like you're going home!

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: If you would like to travel more/in more comfort, it really is worth educating yourself on how to "play the game", and spending some time ensuring you maximise your points/status earning opportunities, and of course the best ways to use them.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
Qantas Platinum One experiences. I used to occasionally look at this thread to see what I was missing, before finally reaching P1 in 2019. Funnily enough, I very much doubt if I would have retained P1 if the world hadn't been turned upside down, but thanks to the Qantas status extensions, I'll end up having it for at least 3 years! It has been handy even in the COVID era - in particular for finding and changing award bookings for travel when this all ends.
