What Happens If You Catch COVID-19 Overseas?
To return to Australia from overseas, you would need to get a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of your flight home. But there's an elephant in the room that most of the travel industry doesn't want to talk about: What happens if your test result is positive?

Featured AFF Member Trip Report
Abandoning Prison Island
Trip report by N860CR | It's been 20 long months, but I'm finally sitting at the international terminal again. I thought I'd give a bit of a running update given things are a little different to my last trip in March 2020. Getting the train to T1 was a quiet affair. Nobody else got off. The terminal is still absolutely deserted. A little pre-checkin station is setup before the JAL desks for document verification. Every sign has UK Border requirements on it so I'd assume the majority of passengers are joining me on the way to London. read more...
AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member banana0692 from Sydney. banana0692 joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2014 and has so far made 287 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: My most recent scheduled trip was to Melbourne in July, but that didn't go ahead due to the restrictions, prior to that I was also in MEL in April.

The last international trip was to Vancouver in January 2020. I recall seeing the first mention of the COVID-19 outbreak in China on the morning news in the hotel. Who would have thought where that would lead.

Q: Where are you planning to go on your next trip?
A: After amassing a large amount of points during lockdown, I have a Oneworld Award booking in business class that that I've been meticulously planning for 2022. So far that booking is looking like: SYD-YVR-xDFW-MIA-LAS-xLAX-LHR-ATH/DBV-xLHR-SYD. After being grounded for almost 2 years I'm ready to take to the sky on a "bucket list" style trip and hit all the places I've been wanting to go, with a combination of some usual haunts and some new places I've never been before.

Q: Favourite airline?
A: Minus a trip when I was a kid, Virgin was the first airline I flew and up until 2020, I travelled with them and their partners exclusively. Virgin will always have a place in my heart as it's where I "grew up" learning the ropes of being a frequent flyer. I've always enjoyed their professional yet light-hearted approach to service. Whenever I've had serious difficulties during my travels they have always pulled through going the extra mile.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Use the search function! With over 2 million posts or "messages" on AFF, there is a wealth of knowledge already posted in this community. Beyond that if you can't find what you are looking for, make a post, everyone here is very helpful and friendly and most AFFers are willing to go the extra mile to help out.

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
After venturing into the world of Oneworld Classic Flight Rewards, "oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread has to be my favourite recently. It has a ton of information, without it I would not have booked my OWA or frankly even known about the possibility of it. Saving me many thousands of points and dollars in the process.
