AFF Member Profile
This week we interviewed AFF member oznflfan from Alice Springs. oznflfan joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2020 and has so far made 470 posts.

Q: Where did you go on your last trip?
A: Last trip (during COVID) was 6 days to Uluru and Kings Canyon. Great time, in the midst of the worst in lockdowns so had both Uluru and Kings Canyon to myself in peak season, early August.

My last trip overseas (pre-COVID) was to Ubud and Yogyakarta. Again, great time, Ubud really chilled, Yogyakarta awesome place, not many foreigners there - the most by far were at Borobudur. Please ensure you go to both Borobudur and Prambanan Temples, both have some of the best sights in all of Indonesia. Military and airplane buff I am, so I also took time to visit Indonesian Air Force Museum. Outside Indonesians and school groups, they must not see many tourists and I got asked for numerous photos with staff whilst there.

Q: Where will you go when the current travel restrictions are lifted?
A: Europe. I have been putting off visiting Normandy, and some motor races (F1, LeMans, Speedway) for years thinking I can go there whenever I want. COVID has brought that crashing down. When borders re-open I will head straight over there as life is short, and you never know what is around the corner.

Q: Favourite airline?
A: To be honest I don't have a favorite airline. Being patriotic I would say Qantas, however even though I have flown Qantas dozens of times domestically, I have never actually flown them internationally. My last long-haul flight was with Qatar Airways and they where great.

Q: What's one piece of advice you would give to a new AFF member?
A: Don't hold back travel. Buy a house, invest for the future, but hold some funds and invest in travel for knowledge and your mental health. Some people say you can travel once you set up your life, kids left home and closer to retirement. Who's to say you can still do this or enjoy this in the last half of your life?

Q: Favourite thread on AFF?
A: By far it's Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted. I'm checking AFF daily, and it's always good to get the views of everyone as to when they feel my dream of being able to travel pretty much anywhere resumes. Right know trying to plan how I leave Australia to get to New Zealand for my Father's Day gift of the Classic Fighters Airshow in Blenheim. If I get there, I'll probably have to change my ex Australia flight to leave either via Brisbane or Adelaide.
